There is a red Hokkaido male currently available. He was born on the 2nd of February and has cleared his first health check. 3 out of 4 grandparents have placed 1st at the DOKENHO (HKH) national show. Neither of his parents have exhibited signs of cataracts. If anyone is interested, feel free to contact me at kato.the.walrus@gmail.com
What kind of health checks do puppies receive in Japan?
ReplyDeleteIn the case of the Nihon Ken, often close to none. I ask breeders to do a basic health check: no hernias or heart murmurs, check structure and bite, and have the vet do an overall once over on eyes etc.
DeleteThe cataracts part seems relatively important since that looks to be a deciding factor in whether or not exported pups should be bred.
